Margaret A.
(Hasch) Mack
May 10, 1932 – February 24, 2024
Defiance, Ohio mourns the loss of a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Margaret Ann Mack, who passed away peacefully on February 24, 2024. Born on May 10, 1932, in Paulding, Ohio, Margaret was the beloved daughter of Paul and Margaret Hasch.
Margaret's life was one of enduring love and commitment. She graduated from Defiance High School in 1949 and, in 1952, married her high school sweetheart, Jonas J. Mack. Their union was a remarkable journey that spanned 71 years, a testament to the strength of their bond, and continued until Jonas's passing on October 12, 2023.
Margaret is survived by her two loving children, Kathy Reynolds (Mark) and David Mack (Kathryn). Her heart carried the weight of the loss of her son, Steven Mack, in 2021 at the age of 66. As a grandmother to six grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to four great-grandsons, Margaret's love extended across generations, creating countless memories rich in love, laughter, and shared memories.
Margaret was preceded in death by her brother Robert Hasch and sisters Madeline Kennedy and Patricia McFeeters. Reuniting with them in the afterlife, she leaves behind a legacy of familial bonds and a treasure trove of cherished moments.
Following her retirement from the Campbell Soup Company, Margaret continued to find her most joy in life's simple pleasures-a hot cup of coffee, a good crossword puzzle, autumns in northern Michigan, and greeting her grandchildren with cocoa and a roaring fire after a day out sledding on the hill. Her appreciation for life's uncomplicated moments was infectious, and she will be remembered for the warmth of her spirit and her genuine love for the ordinary joys of life.
A celebration of Margaret Ann Mack's life will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance, providing opportunity for family and friends to gather, share stories, and honor the memory of a remarkable woman. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. John Lutheran Church, with Pastor Kurt Mews officiating. There will be one hour of visitation before the service at the church. Margaret will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Defiance.
In lieu of flowers, or gifts, please consider a donation to ELARA Hospice, St. John Lutheran Church, or Kingsbury Place in Margaret's name, continuing her legacy of love, kindness, and appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
