Manuel G. Sanchez Jr., 73, of  Holgate, Ohio, passed away on  Monday, January 19, 2015 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio.

He was born on May 11, 1941 to Manuel Sr. and Luisa (Gamino) Sanchez at Rosenberg, Texas. Manuel was in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965. On November 5, 1966 he married Santos (Rodriguez) Sanchez, who survives. Manuel was retired from General Motors, after 42 years of service.

Manuel was a member of New Jerusalem Church in Defiance, where he served as an Elder. He was also a member of UAW Local #211.

Manuel is survived by his loving wife, Santos Sanchez of Holgate, Ohio, daughter, Sophia Rodriguez of Wauseon, Ohio, son, Joseph Sanchez of Willowick, Ohio, stepson, Daniel Bentancur of Defiance, 7 Grandchildren, 8 Great-grandchildren, brothers, Gonzalo (Adelfina) Sanchez and family, Baldermero (Mirna) Sanchez and family, Raymond (Martha) Sanchez and family, Chris Sanchez and family, sisters, Pat (Tom) Amador and family, Mary Rubio and family, Irene (Omar) Alfaro and family, and Frances (Nick Sr.) Torres and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Luisa Sanchez, sister, Lupe Escobedo, and brothers, John and Simon Sanchez.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 24, 2015  at the funeral home with Rev. Pete Flores, officiating.
