Mackenzie A Guilford, 22, of Defiance, passed away on  Sunday, July 1, 2018  at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor. She was born on June 24, 1996 to Eric and Jodi (Wood) Guilford in  Defiance, Ohio.

Mackenzie was a 2014 graduate of Ayersville High School where she was active on the Track and Cross Country Teams.  This past Spring, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Findlay and was beginning her Grad School studies there as well.  Mackenzie was a member of many Honor Societies on campus.  While at college she was a member of the Newman Club of St Michael Catholic Church at the University of Findlay. In Defiance, she was a life long member of St. John Catholic Church and attended Holy Cross Catholic School. Mackenzie enjoyed vacations to a beach or times at Marble Lake with family and friends. Mackenzie will be dearly missed by her parents and brother, Evan Guilford of Defiance, Ohio.  Also surviving are her grandparents, Bob and Janet Wood of Fremont, Ohio; Scott and Rickie Guilford of Defiance, Ohio; and great-grandmother, Frances Wonderly of Sherwood, Ohio. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation for Mackenzie will be held Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 2:00 pm until  8:00 pm with a Rosary service at 7:45pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018, 11:00 am at the St John's Catholic Church, Defiance, Ohio, with Fr Eric Mueller, officiating. Burial will follow at the Riverside Cemetery Defiance, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in memory of Mackenzie.
