M. Louise Sindelar, 94, of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday evening, May 2, 2018 at The Laurels of Defiance. She was born on May 7, 1923 to Joseph and Eleanor (Russin) Birosh in Medera, Pennsylvania. Louise graduated from John Adams High School in Cleveland, Ohio.  On October 22, 1949 she married Richard F. Sindelar, who preceded her in death in December, 1989.

Louise was a faithful member of  St. Mary Catholic Church in Defiance, the Altar and Rosary Society, and The Garden Club.  She studied at The Cleveland Institute of Art, and was a violinist in the Cleveland Women's Orchestra. She worked at Standard Oil in Cleveland, Cuyahoga Valley Vocational School in Brecksville, and at Pine Valley Manor Nursing Home in Richfield, Ohio.  Louise enjoyed music, gardening, art, and playing bingo at Glenn Park. She cherished her family, and loved spending time with them. Louise will be sadly missed by her daughters: Mary Lou (David) Eckstein of Orlando, FL, and Susan (Mark) Soukup of Defiance, grandchildren: Cara (Andrew) Boehm, Ryan (Angie Miller) Soukup, Megan (Stan) Strausbaugh, Kaitlin Soukup, Justin Soukup, and Shaun Soukup, great-grandchildren: Shay, Kaleb, Madison, Emma, and Carter, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard F. Sindelar, and three sisters, Gerrie, Joan, and Elaine. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at  St. John Catholic Church, with Father Randy Giesige, officiating. Burial will take place at 4:00 pm at The Brecksville Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary Catholic Church or Glenn Park of Defiance. Online condolences can be given at www.Schafferfh.com.
