Lynn Carpenter Sr., 60, of Paducah, Kentucky, formerly of Defiance, passed away on  October 7, 2014 at Lourde's Hospital, Paducah.

He was born on March 23, 1954 to John and Faye (Pike) Carpenter in Montpelier, Ohio.

Lynn is retired from General Motors where he worked for 32 years. He was also the owner of Big Lynn's Mowing Service in Paducah, Kentucky.

He was an active member of the Amvets, Elks, VFW, Moose, and Eagles. Lynn was a big Steelers fan and he enjoyed bowling in many leagues. He enjoyed donating money to various Moose Children's Charities in his home lodge of Paducah, Kentucky.

Lynn is survived by his mother, Faye Carpenter of Montpelier, OH, sons, Chad (Lindsey) Carpenter of Grover Hill, Todd Carpenter of Paducah, KY, Lynn (Kristina) Carpenter of Defiance, brothers, Kenneth (Jean) Carpenter of Bryan, OH, John  (Barb) Carpenter, Jr. Walt (Rose) Carpenter and Doug (Paula) Carpenter, all  of West Unity, OH, a sister, Connie (Jim) Schlatter of Delta, OH, and grandchildren Tony, Maddison, Carly, Jacobe, and Blake.

He was preceded in death by his father, John J Carpenter Sr., a baby sister, 3 nieces, and 1 nephew.

Visitation will be held  from 2-4 pm, and 6-8 pm on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, and 10-11 am Thursday, October 16 prior to the service at the church. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 11:00 am at Ayersville United Methodist Church with Rev. Clarence Dinnen officiating. Burial will follow at Sherman Cemetery in Paulding, Ohio.
