Lowell E. Bailey, 89, of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Mercy Defiance Hospital.
He was born on February 5, 1926 to Rutherford and Belva (Essex) Bailey in Defiance. On April 25, 1948 he married Norma (Schwader) Bailey, who resides in Defiance.
Lowell was a U.S. Marine, and fought in WWII on the Island of Palau. He was a life member of VFW, American Legion, Eagles, and UAW Local #211. He worked at Findlay Hancock Brick & Tile, and at Central Foundry in Defiance. Lowell was an avid fisherman, and he loved to bowl and golf. He was an excellent carver and woodworker.
Lowell is survived by his loving spouse of 67 years, Norma Bailey of Defiance, daughters, Diana (David) Kunesh of Defiance, and Sally White of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, son, Bruce (Donna) Bailey of Defiance, Grandchildren:, Nicole (Mark) Kunesh-Styers, Andrea (Chris) Kunesh-Allison, Holly (Chris) Moss-Earl, Joseph (Rebekah) Moss, Jacob Moss, McKala (Jason) White-Gobel, and 12 Great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold, Forrest, Don, and Earl Bailey, and sister Florence Schmunk.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 1, 2015, at Zion Lutheran Church, Defiance. A Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm at the church, with Pastor Timothy Reynolds officiating. Burial will be private.
