Obituary

Former Defiance business owner Louise Dailey passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013, at Fulton Manor in Wauseon, Ohio, where she had been a resident since 2005.

She was born June 21, 1928, in Defiance, Ohio, to Frank and Dorothy (Meyer) Bahmer. She married Forest Hohenberger in 1948, and he preceded her in death. She married Raymond Dailey in 1971, and he too preceded her in death in 1983.

She was a 1946 graduate of Defiance High School. She went on to receive her cosmetology degree from Ravens Croft Beauty School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She owned and operated her salon (East Side Beauty Shop) for over 30 years. Her slogan was "I'll curl up and dye for you," which was always printed on the Christmas favors for her clientele. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Defiance, a member of the VFW Post 3360 Auxiliary, and the military order of Cooties 21, where she served as District 1 president of Military Order of Cooties in 1983. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 541 Auxiliary, Continental, Ohio.

She is survived by a brother, Edward Bahmer, Grafton Ohio; one stepsister, Elaine DeMuth, Defiance; a son, David (Bev) Hohenberger, Defiance; two daughters, Ann (Jerry) Linebrink, Defiance, and Mary (Steve) Porter, Delta, Ohio. She is also survived by grandchildren, Rhonda (Jay) Taylor, Jenny (Tyson) Wasilewski and Holly York, all of Defiance, Charles (Kelly) Porter of Salisbury, Md., Emily (Calvin) Hill of Liberty Center, Ohio, Elizabeth (William) Gombash of Swanton, Ohio, and Cyrus Porter, Delta, Ohio. Her great-grandchildren include Matthew, Anthony, Samantha and Rebecca Foss, Jacob Wasilewski, Angela Goff, Tyler and Lillian York, all of Defiance, and Isabell and Paige Hill, Liberty Center, Ohio.

Visitation will be Sunday, January 27, at Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Monday, January 28, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the services, with the Reverend Jeff Davis officiating. Final resting place will be Riverside Cemetery in Defiance.
