LouAnna D. Grant, age 88 of Defiance, passed away on Thursday evening, January 30, 2025 surrounded by her loving family at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born in Williams County on April 24, 1936 to the late Forest Virgil Pursel and Anna Eloise (Ingel) Pursel. LouAnna was a 1954 graduate of Bryan High School. On October 25, 1958 she married Lowell A. Grant, who preceded her in death on October 10, 1998.

LouAnna was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed baking during the holidays, doing word search puzzles, and watching birds on the bird feeders. LouAnna is survived by her children, Jay (Chris Swary) Grant of Defiance, Jadene (Mark) Vance of Paulding, and John (Carolyn Pishock) Grant of Waterville. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Brandi (Justin) Rigsby, Cyndel (Tyler) Donaldson, Ashley (Wesley) Perry, Heather (Matt) Fedderke, Andrew (Rebecca) Kessler, Dustin Grant, Houston (Dan Sebastiano) Grant, and Bryce Grant, great-grandchildren, Hailey, Harper, Dexter, Rodan, Sophie, Hunter and Delaney, two step-grandsons, Paul Vance and Joe (Juliana) Vance, step-great-grandchildren, Ethan, Seth, Greta and Gavin, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Grant, and two sisters, Janis Bunnell and Leah Carr. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 6th at the funeral home, with Rev. Brandi Rigsby officiating. LouAnna will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center, or Brookview Activities Fund.
