Lodema R. Kunz Lodema R. Kunz, 91, of Defiance, passed away Monday evening, June 13th, 2011 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. She was born in Defiance, on January 6, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ida (Diemer) Hesselschwardt. A lifelong resident of Defiance and a member of St. John Catholic Church. Lodema had worked at the Du Drop Inn, Zeller Corporation and was a homemaker. She was also a member of the Moose and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia. Surviving are her loving daughters : Linda (Charles) Lord and Lana (Robert) Vogel both of Defiance. Beloved stepchildren: Marlene (Phil) Lantow of Defiance, Sue (Joe) Butler of Defiance, Sharon (Ekel) Lane of Midland, Mich., Leann Schwab of Defiance, Corinne Boff of Edgerton, Greg Mack of Columbus, George Mack of Grand Rapids, Rita (John) Tuohy of Defiance, Mary Shock of Defiance, David (Dianne) Kunz of Defiance. A sister: Joan Hesselschwardt of Defiance Grandchildren: Randy (Angie) Vogel, Craig (Samantha) Vogel, Christine (Scott) Clemens, Sean (Samantha) Sargeant, Neal (Heather) Sargeant,and Laura (Todd) Wilson. Step grandchildren: General Stephen Sargeant, Victoria Hall, James Sargeant, and David Sargeant. Numerous great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands: John Edward Sontchi in 1977, J. Howard Mack in 1983 and Richard Kunz in 2009. Also deceased are Step children: James Howard Mack and Mary Ann Schaffer. Brothers: Frederick, Leo, Paul, Neal, and Earl "Abe" Hesselschwardt. Sisters: Evelyn Kilpatrick and Marie Boggs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. John Catholic Church, at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 16th, with Father John Stites officiating. Visitation is Wednesday 2-9 at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home with a vigil service at 8:00 p.m. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
