Lindy Arthur Closset, age 96 of Defiance, peacefully passed away at home with his wife by his side on Tuesday, August 8, 2023. He was born on June 13, 1927 to Arthur and Anna Closset in Long Island, New York. Lindy proudly served our country in the U.S. Army and Merchant Marines during WWII. He earned his Bachelor's degree from University of Denver. On June 12, 2013 he married Brenda Wheat who survives. Lindy worked for several years at Boeing Corporation until his retirement. Lindy enjoyed dancing with Brenda, and loved spending time with his family. Lindy is survived by his loving wife Brenda, his daughters, Gloria (Keith) Combs and Linda Closset, stepdaughter, Abby (Louie) Lorenzen, grandchildren, Daniel (Laura) Jones and Amanda (Mark) Goodale, step-grandchildren, Tate Sharp, Lyndsi Lorenzen and Logan Lorenzen, great-grandchildren, Michael (Kelsey) Goodale, Alicia Goodale, Abigail Goodale, Ava Jones and Ella Jones, great-great-grandchildren, Ella Grace Goodale and Omar Perez III, his nephew Steven Closset, and nieces Cheryl Aguilar and Pam Staple. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Carl and Hans Closset, his first wife Dona (Lapham) Closset in 1973 his second wife, Marie (Winton) Closset in 2003, and his son, Mark Closset in 2015. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements. Memorials are suggested to Wounded Warriors.
