Linda Kay (Mack) Guilford 1951-2018 Linda K. Guilford, 66, of Defiance, passed away Monday, January 15, 2018, peacefully at the Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center, surrounded by her family. Linda Kay Mack was born on October 11, 1951, in Bryan, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Victor and Rose Mary Mack. On June 10, 1977, Linda married John D. Guilford who proceeded her in death in 2014. Linda was a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Defiance. Linda will be greatly missed by her children, Kirk V. (Sara) Guilford of Ney, OH, Abby M. (Josh) Guilford-Ryan of Defiance, OH, and Kay M. (Josh) Guilford-Johnson of Defiance, OH; grandchildren Victoria Harbourt, Hannah Harbourt, and Hanna Johnson; "honorary daughter" Jenny Seele and her children James Seele and Jaycee Seele; brothers, Brad (Barb) Mack, of Bryan, OH; Kevin (Brenda) Mack of Temperance, MI; sister-in-law, Manda S. Mack, of Bryan, OH; several nieces and nephews, and her faithful dog and companion, Chloe. Linda was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband of 37 years, John; and her brother, Douglas Mack. Linda was a 1969 graduate of Bryan High School and continued her education in nursing, graduating from Northwestern Ohio Practical Nurse Training Center of Toledo in 1972. She began her nursing career at Defiance Hospital in 1972, and in 1992 Linda earned her R.N. degree from Owens Community College of Perrysburg. Linda later retired from Bryan Community Hospital. Linda was always involved as a wife and mother. She looked after her family with determined dedication and love. She was always present at ball games, dance recitals, concerts, and the list goes on. In addition to her passion for caring for people, whether it be her family or a stranger, Linda was an avid animal lover her entire life. From the time she was able to, she cared for all kinds of dogs, cats, ducks, chickens, and various other farm animals. She was known to rescue and care for sick and neglected animals as well. Her favorite relaxation spot was the family pond, where she could be found almost all year round. She enjoyed the outdoors and being with nature, loved being in the sun, and the "occasional" glass(es) of wine. Visitation for Linda Mack Guilford will be 12 noon till 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18th, 2018 at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, 1753 S. Clinton St., Defiance. A rosary service will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Defiance, with Father Randy Giesige presiding. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center, the Defiance County Humane Society, or St. Mary Catholic Church.
