Letha Mae Wehrle, 90, of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, and formerly of Ney, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo.
She was born on February 14, 1925 to William and Emma (Pudliner) Hellemn in Defiance, Ohio. On December 14, 1973 she married Richard Paul Wehrle, who proceeded her in death. Letha retired from Spangler Candy Company in Bryan. She was also employed at Hayes-Albion in Bryan, and she was a cook at Yates Diner. She was an avid flower gardener, award-winning quilter, and a former singer in the "Sweet Adelines".
Letha is survived by her sons, Bill (Laura) Hahn of Lakeland, Florida, Don (Lori) Hahn of Ney, Ohio, daughter Sue Hiler of Perkinston, Mississippi, brothers Don (Sarah) Hellemn of New Orleans, Louisiana, Dale (Alexis) Hellemn of Hudson, Florida, 6 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard Wehrle, brother Paul Hellemn, sisters Gladis Baugher and Irene Harrington, and a sister Ethel in infancy.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at the funeral home, with Deacon Jeff Mayer officiating. Burial will take place at the Catholic Cemetery in Ft.Wayne, Indiana
