Leon Larry Froelich, age 76 of Ney, Ohio, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. He was born on August 5, 1947 to Edward and Agnes (Berryman) Froelich in Defiance, Ohio. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. On April 1, 1983 he married Barbara Calvin, who preceded him in death on December 28, 2021. Leon worked as a Millwright at General Motors for 45 years until his retirement in 2012. Leon will be greatly missed by his family and good friends.

Together during their marriage of 38 years, Barb and Leon raised their children; Greg Calvin of Atlanta, GA, Kim (Shane) Lantz of Montpelier, OH, Joe (Laurie) Froelich of Sherwood, OH, and Lenny Froelich (Pam Miller) of Hamler, OH. He also leaves behind his grandchildren; Jake (Lindsay) Roose of Defiance, Matthew Calvin of Johnson City, TN, Jason Roose of Bryan, OH, Mitchell (Lydia) Calvin of Tennessee, Deven Froelich of Sherwood, OH, Brittany Froelich of Chicago, IL, Sophie Froelich and Zoee Froelich, both of Sherwood, OH, ten great-grandchildren, and his sister, Dina Gallant of Defiance. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Froelich, son Shon Froelich, brothers Gerald Froelich, Edward Froelich, and Gene Froelich, and sisters Charlene Donley and Bonnie Hasselswerth. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Terry Knapp officiating. Leon will be laid to rest at Riverview Memory Gardens.
