Leo J. Florence, age 70 of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born on July 9, 1951 to Lavon and Loretta (Simmons) Florence in Defiance, Ohio. On August 27, 1976 he married Pam (Ripke) Florence, who survives. Leo worked at General Motors for 35 years until his retirement, then worked for Exceptional Motorcar in Defiance. He enjoyed farming, fishing, bowling, hunting and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Leo will be sadly missed by his family and many good friends. Leo is survived by his loving wife Pam Florence of Defiance, his daughters, Kayleen Florence, Sandy Segur, Amanda (Gary) Mason and Cindy Florence, and his son, Kevin (Brandee) Florence. He also leaves behind 19 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and his siblings; Linda (Jerry) Justinger, Lowell Florence, Laura (Glen) Rose, Lavon (Barb) Florence and Lance Florence. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 6, 2022 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson/Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton St.) in Defiance. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Rev. David Brobston officiating. One hour of additional visitation will be held before the service from 10-11 am. Due to CDC guidelines if you are not fully vaccinated a mask is required to enter the funeral home, and our lounge area will remain closed. Burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.
