Lee Hendricks Lee P. Hendricks, age 71, of Defiance, passed away Wednesday morning, October 29th 2008 at Defiance Regional Medical Center. Born in Defiance, on May 9, 1937, he was the son of the late C. G. (Pete) and Dorothy (Serrick) Hendricks. He married Jean , June 27, 1959, who survives. They were the owners and operators of at the Stop & Shop for from May 23, 1957 till Dec. 24,2005. They also owned and operated the Candy Cane Children's Shop from 1957 till 1985. Lee was a life member of St. John Catholic Church, where he was a former usher; a life member of the Elks Lodge #147; a two term past president of Slocum School PTA,; a past two term member of the Chamber of Commerce board; a Defiance Retail Merchant member since 1957; and a former Jaycee member. Lee enjoyed traveling and working with his wife in their businesses, in downtown Defiance. He attended Ft. Wayne Business College and Defiance College. Lee was a lifelong resident of Defiance. Surviving are his wife Jean, two sons: Jeff (Michelle) Hendricks and Craig (Kristine) both of Defiance. Lee is also survived by six grandchildren, who gave him great pleasure and enjoyment. His grandchildren are Jessica, Drew, Devon, Keiana, Michael and Madeleine Hendricks and a great grandchild Hayden. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. John Catholic Church, Defiance, at 12:00 Noon on Monday, November 3rd . Friends are invited to call Saturday 4-7 and Sunday 1-8 at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home where there will be a 8:00 P:M Vigil Service Sunday. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
