Lavonna L. Kruse, age 90, of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Thursday morning, December 12, 2024 at The Laurels of Defiance. She was born in Marion, Indiana on May 21, 1934 to the late Roy and Wilma (Rissler) King. Lavonna was a 1952 graduate of Defiance High School. On May 4, 1963 she married Carl H. Kruse who preceded her in death on December 19, 2023. Lavonna enjoyed roller skating in her younger years. She was a social butterfly. She loved shopping, children, babysitting, and cooking, especially for her family and during the holidays. Lavonna  was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother and she treasured her time spent with family. Lavonna is survived by her loving sons; Todd Erman of Bryan, OH and Kirk (Kelly) Erman of Defiance, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and her sister, Phyllis Sanders. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Carl Kruse, son Philip Kruse, grandson Ryan Erman, brother Gale King and sister Wanda Wichman. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating. Lavonna will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
