Larry R. Rowe, 68, of Defiance, passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2015, surrounded by his family at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance. He was born on January 3, 1947 to Rachel (Rowe) Rook in Pikeville, Kentucky. On September 7, 1967 he married Linda (Smith) Rowe, who resides in Defiance. Larry was an active member of North Mt. Zion Church in Defiance. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He worked as a millwright at General Motors, and was a member of UAW Local #211, and served as chairman for several years.  Larry loved camping, fishing, and was a school bus driver for several local schools, and especially enjoyed driving teams to sporting events. He was an avid NY Yankees fan, and he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Larry is survived by his loving spouse of  48 years, Linda Rowe of Defiance, daughters, Julie (Richard) Smotherman of Ft.Wayne, Indiana, Christina (Adam) Becker and Jennifer Rowe of Defiance, sons, Robert (Kari) Rowe and Roger Rowe of Wauseon, 9 Grandchildren, brother, James Bevins of Napoleon, and sister, Linda Flory of Bradington, Florida. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rachel Rook, and sisters, Thelma Bevins and Marlene Sloan. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from  2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral  Home, with Rev. Brent Gibson, officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memory Gardens.
