Larry Allen, 77, of Defiance, formerly of Lima, passed away early Monday, October 7, 2013 at the CHP Defiance Area Hospice Inpatient Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on December 26, 1935, he was the youngest child of Orphy and Evelyn (Loomis) Allen.

Larry married Sue McAnally on August 31, 1963. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Korea, and retired from General Motors in 1994 after 30 years. He was a kind, generous man who loved to make others laugh. Among the many things he enjoyed were camping, golf, fishing, meeting his buddies for coffee at The Cabbage Patch, feeding the birds and tending his garden.

Larry will be forever loved and deeply missed by his wife of 50 years, Sue, three daughters, Christine (Forest)Bashore, of Convoy, Linda Renner of Fort Wayne, Karen Barnes of Cecil, Six grandchildren, Michelle (Shaun) Meeks, Heather (Chad) Mullen, Mark (Beth) Barnes, Matt Barnes, Zachary Bashore, Emily Bashore, Six great grandchildren, one great grandchild and another one on the way,  two sisters, Dorothy (Howard) Foust of Elida, Nettie Milliran of Mesa, AZ and his beloved cat, Spunky.

He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.

Private services will be at a later date.
