Kenneth E. Smith, 73, of Harrisville MI, and formerly of Defiance, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Alpena Regional Medical Center.

Born January 15, 1941 to Rollie and Litha (Risner) Smith in West Millgrove, Ohio, he was raised in Malinta OH. He served in the United States Navy. Ken made his home in Defiance Ohio, and worked as a foreman with General Motors. He moved to Harrisville, after his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid golfer. Ken was a member of the American Legion, Mikado Post #254, of the Barton City Eagles Club Aerie 4141, and of the V.F.W. in Defiance Ohio.

He is survived by three daughters, Toby (Mark) Gillis of Defiance OH; Tona (Jeff) Barton of Napoleon OH; and Kendra (Stacy) Lemper of Hicksville, OH, five grandchildren, Zachary Gillis; Jessica Barton; Katelyn Barton; Garrett Barton; and Ashley Lemper, one great grandson, Braxton Mann, two sisters, Virginia Huner and Norma (Major) Moore of Napoleon OH, and one brother, Arthur "Cork" (Kathy) Smith of Napoleon Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Charles Smith.
