Kenneth Roy Poineau Jr., Defiance, Ohio, formerly of Saginaw, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017, at his home at the age of 65. Son of Kenneth Poineau and the late Daisy (Fila) Poineau, Kenneth was born July 20, 1952, in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Navy. He married Kay F. Vermeesch on November 10, 1973. She survives him. Ken was employed by G.M. for 45 years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Defiance, Ohio, and a lifetime member of the AMVETS. Ken enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, golfing, bowling and especially his granddaughters. Surviving besides his wife, Kay, are one daughter and one son, Jennifer and Michael Brown, Ortonville; Chad and Jessica Poineau, Defiance, Ohio; two special granddaughters, Isabelle and Sienna Brown, and an angel on the way; two brothers and one sister, Rick and Sandy Poineau, Saginaw; Kim and Ed Holman, Defiance, Ohio; Mark and Stacy Poineau, Maple City, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his brother, Michael J. Poineau and a nephew, Ricky Poineau. Ken was an easygoing man and a friend to all. Funeral liturgy will take place 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 31, 2017, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State St., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Richard Bokinskie will officiate. Burial will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with Military Services conducted by V.F.W. Post 1859. Friends may visit at the Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., Saginaw, Michigan, where the family will be present on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Diabetes Association.
