Katherine M. Veith, 98, of Defiance, passed away peacefully at 11:28 P:M Monday September 15, 2008, at the Laurels of Defiance. She was born on June 17, 1910, in Defiance, to the late Wesley and Alexine (Fyfe) Steinberger. In 1943, she married Paul J. Veith and he died in 1995. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. A graduate of St. John's Commercial School. She was the founder and co-owner of the Budget Shop until 1963. She is survived by a sister in law Claraetta (Wilson) Steinberger, Sandusky; nieces Karen Wassel, Folsom, La.; Cynthia Steinberger, Lakewood; Susan (Russ) Wumer, Bowling Green; Sharon (Steve) Lichtscien, Sandusky; two nephews, Jon Craig, Folsom, La.; David (Janice) Steinberger, Marion; and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Veith, her parents Wesley and Alexine Steinberger, sisters Jane Steinberger and Mary (Henry) Craig, a brother, David Steinberger, and a nephew Don Wassel.
