Juanita M. Hernandez, age 65 of Defiance, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at her home in Defiance, Ohio. She was born on September 16, 1958 to Guadalupe and Encarmason (Garcia) Martinez in Mckinney, Texas. In 1984 she married Jesse Hernandez, who preceded her in death. Juanita was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Defiance. She had a heart of gold, was a very loveable person and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who always put her family first. She enjoyed writing, watching movies, and listening to Elvis and Diana Ross music. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by many. Juanita is survived by her children, Jesse Hernandez Jr. of Defiance, Joel A. (Crystal) Hernandez of Texas, Jennifer E. Hernandez of Texas, and Jaclyn E. Hernandez of Defiance, and five grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sisters, Lupita Martinez, Rosa Fonseca, and Georgina Martinez, and her brothers, Freddy and Domingo Martinez. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Berta Trevino, and two brothers, Oscar and Teo Martinez. There will be no visitation or services. Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
