Joyce Rita Shock, 82, of Defiance, passed away on  May 28, 2013 at the Mercy Hospital of Defiance.

She was born on December 18, 1930 to Olin and Veronica (Cupp) Roehrig in Defiance, OH. She attended school at Defiance High School graduating in 1949. Joyce worked as a Nurses Aide for Defiance Hospital. On October 25, 1951, she married Roger Shock. Joyce and Roger lived in Defiance, Ohio.

Joyce was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

Joyce is survived by her loving daughters, Maria (Keith) Springer & Alana (Kevin Birchy) Shock, both of Defiance, OH, brothers, Gene (Marian) Roehrig, John Roehrig, Paul  (Edna) Roehrig Sr., Donald (Ruby) Roehrig, Wayne Roehrig, Lynn (Josie) Roehrig, Dennis (Judy) Roehrig Sr. all of Defiance, OH, grandson, Roger Eugene Shock II, sister-in-law, Debbie (Ron) King all of Defiance, OH.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Roger Eugene Shock Sr., sister, June Huffman, sister-in-laws, Mary Roehrig & Linda Roehrig.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 30, 2013 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm & Friday, May 31, 2013 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 31, 2013, 11:00 am at the Schaffer Funeral Home, with Deacon George Newton, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery.
