Joseph F Minck age 80 of Defiance went home to the Lord Friday February 16, 2018. He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family and wife of 33 years. Joe was born on April 17, 1937 in Cecil, Ohio to J. Francis and Dorothy (Bayliss) Minck. On December 24, 1984 he married Beverly D Cameron in Defiance, Ohio who survives.
Joe proudly served his country with an honorable discharge in 1963 from the United States Army and the Ohio National Guard. Joe retired in 2000 after 48 years at the General Motors Poweretrain Defiance, Ohio where he worked as an electrician. He was a member of St John Catholic Church of Defiance.
Joe had an incredible career of public service as he enjoyed helping others. He served as an Associate Deputy becoming a fulltime Deputy Sheriff for Defiance County, a position he held for ten years, retiring in 2009. He served on the Paulding County Fair Board and had previously served on the Paulding Village Police Reserves as well as the Paulding EMS. He was past president of the Defiance County Sheriff Deputies Association
He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member, a member of Defiance Elks 147, member of the NRA and a dues paying member of Local 211B. Joe enjoyed working outdoors, gardening, planting and spending time in his workshop and traveling. His favorite time was spent with his children and grandkids and his companion boxer dog named Lola, who passed two years ago. He mostly enjoyed his time spent at the Defiance County Sherriffs Association, as court security and transport, as well as the many lifelong friends he encountered as a Deputy Sheriff.

He is also survived by 13 Grandchildren, 6 Great-Grandchildren as well as a number of Nieces and Nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Eric Mueller on Friday at 11:00am at St. John Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 2:00 - 8:00 PM at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home, Defiance. There will be a prayer service at 7:00pm Thursday at the Funeral Home.
Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Riverview Memory Gardens.
Suggested memorials are to Heartland Hospice of Perrysburg and the Defiance County Sheriff's Association.
