Joseph "Joe" Wayne Martin, age 56, of Defiance, passed away on January 19, 2024, at the Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center with his loving significant other, Juantia, by his side. He was born on March 3, 1967, to Delbert Martin and Joyce Kiessling in Lima, OH. Joe worked in shipping and receiving for Old Castle in Napoleon for over 25 years and was known as "J.J.". He was a selfless man who would help anyone who needed it. He loved to work with his hands and enjoyed building things, some of which included RC cars and computers. If Joe can't fix it, nobody can. Joe was very family oriented and adored his children and grandchildren. He was known as the "best papa ever". Joe also greatly adored his significant other Juanita and was a pure hearted romantic. He will be sadly missed by many family members and friends. Joe is survived by his significant other, Juanita Herrera, of Defiance, mother, Joyce Collins of Catlettsburg, KY, children Wayne Martin of Stryker, OH, Charles (Melissa) Martin of Montpelier, OH, Thomas Martin of Alexandria, VA, Scott and Chris Lewis, both of Defiance, John Lewis of Hicksville, OH and Cindy Rocha of Defiance, his grandchildren, Lily, Ezra and Silas Martin, Trinity, Ellie and Navaeh Lewis, Marleea Meine, Frankie, John, Hunter and Desirea Lewis, his siblings, Jim Martin of Paulding, OH, Howard Martin of Ashland, KY, Bob Martin of Killeen, TX, Debra (Ray) Collins of Catlettsburg, KY, Bethann (Brent) Osenga of Venedocia, OH, Faith Martin of Woodburn, IN, Hope Martin of Venedocia, OH, Jolene (Shane) Talboom and Eric Martin, both of Lima, OH. He is also survived by his beloved cat Gizmo. He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Martin and his brother, Eddie Martin. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home South - Lawson Roessner Chapel (1753 S. Clinton Street). A Funeral service will take place immediately following at 1:00 pm. Memorials for Joe are suggested to Schaffer Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
