Joseph Louis "Joe" Dabila, 77, of Defiance, peacefully passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born on September 11, 1940 to Jesus and Tomasa (Romero) Dabila in Cameron, TX. On June 28, 1960 he married Elvia (Castillo) Dabila, who resides in Defiance. Joe worked at General Motors in Defiance for over 25 years, retiring in 1992.

Joe was a member of UAW #211, Eagles #372, AMVETS #1991, VFW #3360, and Moose #2094. Joe loved to fish, watch football and wrestling, and he enjoyed his quiet time in the garage. He loved cooking for everyone, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Joe was a good friend and had a big heart. He will be missed by his family and so many good friends.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of  57 years, Elvia Dabila of Defiance, sons, Rick (Linda) Davila, and Jerry Davila, all of Defiance, daughters, Norma Davila of Defiance, and Tammy Davila-Gillett of Bryan, 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Ruben Davila, daughter, Mary Lou Davila, four brothers, and seven sisters.

Visitation will be held from 2-4, and 6-8 pm on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 15th at Schaffer Funeral  Home, with Pastor Vincent Cantu officiating. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Memory Gardens.
