Joseph Matthew Farmer, age 43, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at his home in Defiance. He was born on September 19, 1980 to William and Barbara (Mansfield) Farmer in Defiance, Ohio. Joseph was a 1999 graduate of Wayne Trace High School and was a self-employed contractor. He enjoyed 4-Wheelers and fishing, and was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and The Beatles. Joseph was a faithful donator to St. Jude Children's Hospital. He loved his pets and was a huge animal lover. He will be greatly missed by his family and many good friends. Joseph is survived by his mother, Barbara Mansfield of Defiance, and his sons, Ethan Farmer of Ft. Wayne, IN and Xavier Farmer of Defiance. He also leaves behind two brothers, Mike Smith and Scott Smith, his sister, Amy Farmer, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William Farmer, and his grandparents. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home, with Pastor Marie Wolfram officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mansfield Cemetery.

The family feels that wearing Ohio State attire would be a great way to pay tribute to Joseph. Memorials are suggested to the family.
