Joseph A. Bok, 92, of Defiance, died peacefully at the CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center, on Saturday, March 5, 2016.
He was born July 10, 1923, in Defiance County's Delaware Township, the son of the late Joseph and Lydia (Schifferly) Bok.
In 1944, he married Dorpha (Hickok) Bok who preceded him in death on October 30, 2009.
Joe was a Delaware Township Trustee for more than 20 years, on the Board of directors for Landmark for 12 years, on the Federation board of Farm Bureau for 12 years. He was a member of St. John Lutheran church in Defiance where he was an elder, Trustee, usher for a number of years and a caring minister.
After being a farmer all his life he retired and then worked for Meijer for 8 1/2 years.
Surviving are two sons, Rev. Vern (Donell) Bok of Seven Hills, OH and Marvin (Janet) Bok of Auburn, IN and a daughter Marilyn (Steve) Buchholz of Defiance.
11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and two more due in a couple of months.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a sister Emaline Schwaderer, brothers: William Bok,. John Bok and Henry Bok who died in infancy.
Visitation for Joseph will be 2-4 and 6-8 Tuesday, March 8, in the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, at St. John Lutheran Church with Rev. Donald Luhring officiating.
Viewing at the church from 10 - 11 a.m. Entombment will be in Riverview Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
