Jose G. DeLeon, III, 54, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on March 23, 1963 to Jose and Irene (Medrano) DeLeon in Weslaco, Texas..  Jose worked for Sauder Woodworking in Archbold, Ohio for  25 years, retiring in 2008. On December 10, 1983 he married Maricela Garcia.

Jose was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Bulls.  He enjoyed the Arts and drawing.

Jose is survived by his loving spouse of 33 years, Maricela; his daughter, Danielle (Mitchell) DeLeon-Spires; son, Jose G. DeLeon, IV, both of Columbus, Ohio.  He is also survived by his sister, Norma (Candelario) Valenzuela of Defiance, Ohio and his brothers, Gerardo DeLeon of Columbus, Ohio; Gonzalo DeLeon of Ft. Wayne, Indiana;  Ricardo DeLeon of Defiance, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Eduardo DeLeon.

Visitation will be held at Schaffer Funeral Home, in Defiance, Ohio on Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Vigil service will be at 2:00pm at the Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian burial at St Mary Catholic Church in Defiance will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 11:00 am with Fr Randy Giesige officiating.

Interment will take place in the Riverside Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice .
