Joni Lynn Klima, 47, of Defiance, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio.

She was born on October 5, 1969 to John and Julie (Folk) Smart in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. On October 4, 2002 she married Corey A. Klima, who resides in Defiance.  Joni attended Defiance Christian Church. She was a cancer survivor, and was active in The Relay For Life in Defiance County.

Joni is survived by her loving spouse of 14 years, Corey Klima of Defiance, OH, mother, Julie Tishhouse of Bryan, OH, sons, Kent (Taylor) Nagel of Defiance, and Tylor McIlvain of Ft. Wayne, IN, daughter, Krystle (Scott) Coressel of Defiance, five grandchildren, brothers, John Phillips of Antwerp, and Mark Phillips of Defiance.

She was preceded in death by her adopted father, Leo Phillips.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Friday, April 28, 2017 at Defiance Christian Church, where funeral services will follow at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Michael Hasselbring officiating.
