Joni J. Garber, age 69 of Paulding, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 8, 1954 to William and Della (Salyer) Bevins in Hamilton, Ohio. On February 14, 2006 she married Kevin Garber and he survives. Joni retired from Johns-Manville as a Furnace Chief and was a member of the Quarter-Century Club. She was a lifetime member of Defiance Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #372. Joni loved reading and doing puzzles along with camping and bird watching. Joni enjoyed life. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, spoiling them at every chance. She adored her dog Thelma and was wonderful woman who enjoyed taking care of everyone. She will be sadly missed by so many family members and friends. Joni is survived by her loving spouse of 18 years, Kevin Garber, her son Donald Dougal of Defiance, and daughter, Elizabeth (Brock) Stoller of Paulding, grandchildren, Donnie Dougal Jr. of Defiance, Isabelle Heitman, Kyren Dougal and Brenden Fenter, all of Paulding, Daveena (Josh) Brendel of  MO, Kaleb (Selena) James of Defiance and Kenneth (Arielle) Dougal of Hicksville, sisters, Beulah Dare (Tim) Tiderman of Grand Rapids, OH, Linda (Calvin) Tipton, Mary Bevins and Polly Bevins all of Defiance, brothers, Bill Bevins of Evansport and Rob (Tami) Bevins of Archbold. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jack Bevins. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Pastor Perry Porter officiating. Memorials are suggested to the family, c/o Kevin Garber.
