Jon Joseph Hornish, 60, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, in Defiance, Ohio. Born in Bryan, Ohio, on June 26, 1965, Jon moved through the world with warmth, heart, and a deeply artistic spirit.

A 1983 graduate of Defiance Senior High School and a 1990 graduate of Bowling Green State University with a Master's degree. Throughout his life, he remained a passionate lover of music and the arts. An avid traveler, he saw the world through a unique eye, capturing its beauty through the lens of his camera. Jon's artistic view of life, shared through his photography, leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories and images for all who knew him.

Jon was preceded in death by Dieter Gray, Kenny Cashman, and Amanda Dobbelaere.

He is survived by his parents, Anita Peel, Sam Hornish (Jo Ellen); his siblings, Lisa (Mark Durre), Laurie Cashman (Paul Roehrig), Rob (Balynda Gray), Sheana (Matt Behringer), Michelle (Scott Thomas), April Hahn, and Sam (Crystal Hornish); and his many adoring nieces and nephews: Tim, Zach, Nate, Joe, Eric, Sean, Nick, Jon Henry, Dusty, Ashley, Nathan, Alex, Britny, Cheyenne, Ryan, Alaina, Jacob, Marisa, Mitchell, Jill, Jude, Sadie, Hope, Addison, Eliza, Jensen, Levi, and Sam. Jon also had many aunts and uncles, cousins, great nieces and nephews, and friends alike. He loved them ALL!

A private service will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026 at Schaffer Funeral Home South, Lawson-Roessner Chapel with a Masonic Funeral Service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be directed to Shriners Children's Hospital or to a charity of the donor's choice.
