Johnny A. Burdine, Sr., 76, of Oakwood, passed away on Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Toledo Hospital.
He was born on September 15, 1938 to George and Clara (Bolenbaugh) Burdine in Defiance. On July 6, 1977 he married Delores K. Brown and she survives.
Johnny worked as a gas station manager for many years.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, a member of the AmVets post 1991, VFW post 3360 both of Defiance and the DAV. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family; especially his grandchildren. .
Also surviving are children Johnny A. (Jennifer) Burdine, Jr. of New Bavaria, George A. Brown of Montpelier, Ricky L. (Vickie) Brown of Ney, Patty Fleming Rankin of Sanford, NC, and Robert L. (Roxanne) Burdine of Ayersville, 19 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, brothers, Ronald (Edna) Burdine of Defiance, Riley (Marci) Burdine of Pulaski,sister, Thelma Gollihue of Paulding, and sister-in-law, Connie Burdine of WA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandchildren Ricky L. Brown, Jr. and Robert L. Burdine, Jr.; a brother George Burdine, three sisters Awilda Cooper, Annie Sulfridge, and Dianna Leoma and two brothers-in-law Dewey Sulfridge and Bill Gollihue.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 2 - 8 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at 11:00 am, with Pastor Larry Kennedy, officiating. Military honors will be conducted by AmVets Post 1991.
