Yeoman
August 17, 1936 – December 28, 2023
John F. Yeoman passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 28, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in LaPorte, Indiana to Ralph and Ruth (Garner) Yeoman on August 17, 1936. He attended Hanna High School and graduated in 1954. He worked on the family farm before deciding to work in the medical field. He attend Gary Methodist/Indiana University to earn his bachelor's degree in nursing and then earned CRNA at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. He served in the Indiana Air National Guard from 1966-72 retiring as a second lieutenant.
On October 1, 1955, he married Patricia A. Lemke. Together they have five daughters, Cindy (Bill) Wendell, and Mary (Jack) Weisgerber all of Defiance, Patricia Burnham (Cliff Sherman) of Lafayette, CO, Gayle (Mike)Wallen of Coldwater, MI and Julia (Bob) Shock of Gillette, WY. There are eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
In September of 1969, he joined the Defiance Clinic as their first CRNA. He retired in 2001 after thirty-two years of service. He was a member of St Paul's United Methodist Church, Defiance Area Rotary, Harris Fellow, a member of the Masonic Lodge, a member of the Defiance College Purple and Gold Club and a past president, and a member of Kettenring Country Club. He enjoyed being a part of Euchre U and his monthly Sunday Night Poker group that he was a member of for over forty-five years. He was also a frequent visitor of the 515 Clinton Street coffee shop.
After raising their family, Pat and John enjoyed traveling and sharing their North Carolina timeshare two weeks out of the year with friends and family. He enjoyed golfing, visiting his siblings, children, and grandchildren in numerous places around the world. He is fondly remembered by his patients and co-workers for his bedside manner, kindness, compassion, and sense of humor. His family was his pride and joy. He is survived by his wife of sixty-eight years, Patricia, his children and grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother and five sisters. He was preceded in death by his parent and grandson.
There will be no visitation at this time and a Memorial Service is scheduled for a March 9, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. The family would like to thank the staff of Mercy Hospital Operating Room and Elara Caring for their compassionate care and kindness to John during his illness. Preferred memorials are to St. Paul's Methodist Church Food Pantry.
