John D. Williams, 91, of Defiance, passed away on  Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at the CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance, Ohio.

He was born on May 7, 1923 to Frank and Cora (Switzer) Williams in Paulding, Ohio. On April 29, 1944 he married Wilma Williams, who proceeded him in death in 2012.

John worked for 29 years with the Continental School System. He also worked for 14 years at Williams Garage in Continental, Ohio. John enjoyed watching Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers, and Ohio State. He enjoyed fishing, playing dominos, working in his garage, and being outside.

John is survived by his son, Larry (Deb) Williams of Defiance, daughter, Nancy (Robert) Swingle of Defiance, grandchildren, David (April) Williams, Ted  (Amanda) Williams, great-grandson, Landon Williams, step-grandsons, Rob Swingle, and John (Stephanie) Swingle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Cora Williams, wife, Wilma Williams, brother, Pete Williams, and sister, Eva Seibenaler.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 4, 2014, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, where funeral services will be held Friday, December 5, 2014 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Tim Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.

The family requests memorials be directed to the CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center, the Defiance Senior Center, or the donor's choice.
