John A. Schindler John A. Schindler, 76, of Defiance, passed away Friday, January 6th, 2012 at Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Florida. He was born in New Bavaria, Oh. on November 10, 1935, to the late Alphonse and Mary (Samuhel) Schindler. John married Essie Powell in 1968 and she survives. They spent their winters in Florida. John also enjoyed woodworking and playing cards, especially euchre. He retired as a machinist at Johns Manville. Besides his loving wife Essie, surviving are his beloved daughters: Laura (Tom) Kestner of Grelton, Oh., Karen (Ron) Tobias of Defiance, Kelly (Leon) Watts of Tampa, Florida Son: Tom (Jean) Lewis of Defiance Sisters: Mary (Delno) Straka of Defiance, Joan (Dick) Rittenour of Defiance, Terry (Bob) Brenner of Defiance, Ann (Ken) Sweinhagen of Defiance. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. His loving family gave him much comfort and joy. Preceded in death by his parents, a son Ronny John Schindler, and two brothers; Paul Schindler and Jim Schindler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, at St. John Catholic Church. Friends are invited to call 2-8 Tuesday at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home with a scripture service at 7:00 Tuesday. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
