John George Rupright, age 79 of Ney, Ohio, peacefully passed away on Tuesday morning, December 14, 2021 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born on July 3, 1942 to the late Donald and Lauretta (Gerber) Rupright in Washington Township, Ohio. He attended Ney School, and on May 19, 1972 he married Donna (Offerle) Rupright, who survives.

John worked at Defiance Metal Products for 49 years until his retirement in 2010, and also cared for the family farm. John was a lifetime member of Defiance Fish and Game Club, Golden Eagle member of the Defiance and Bryan Eagles, member of Defiance Moose Lodge, and was a former member of the Evansport Fox Club. He enjoyed camping at Marble Lake, Michigan for 40 years with his family. John was an avid Fairview Apache supporter. He loved his family and attending his grandchildren's events, as well as retiree breakfasts. John will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 49 years, Donna Rupright of Ney, OH, and his two children; Daniel (Shelby) Rupright and Ann (Chad) Fitzenrider. He also leaves behind three grandchildren; Casandra and Alexander Rupright and Brynn Fitzenrider, and his sister Rosemary Rittenhouse. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lauretta Vogel, and brother Donald Rupright. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 at the funeral home with Rev. William Stottlemyer officiating. Due to CDC guidelines, if you are not fully vaccinated, a mask is required to enter the funeral home, and our lounge area will remain closed. Burial will take place at Ney Cemetery.
