John Joseph Omlor, 69, of Butler, IN, formally of Defiance, OH, passed away on September 10, 2014 at the CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance, OH.

He was born on May 8, 1945 to Orlett and Agnes (Dow) Omlor in Altoona, PA. He attended school at Woodward High School and graduated in 1964. After Graduation, John served as a Marine until 1971. John worked as a Mill Wright for GM for over 25 years. On February 6, 1965 he married Joan Bowser. John and Joan lived in Defiance, OH, until moving to Butler, IN in 2012.

He was a former member of the Defiance American Legion and a current member of Indiana American Legion.

John is survived by his loving spouse of 49 years Joan Omlor, of Butler, IN, daughter, Angela  (Michael) Morgan of Butler, IN, daughter, Joan (Donald) Myers of Defiance, OH, son, Rob (Sandra) Omlor of Defiance, OH, son-in-law, Greg McCarthy of Mansfield, OH, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren with one more on the way, brother, Daniel (Sue) Omlor of Toledo, OH, sister, Rebecca Vallad of UP, MI, brother, Michael Omlor of Toledo, OH, and sister, Marcella Omlor of Toledo, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Vera McCarthy, brother, Larry Omlor, and sister, Kathleen DeMoe.

Visitation will be held Monday, September 15, 2014 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Schaffer Funeral Home, Inc., Defiance, Ohio, and one hour prior to the services on Tuesday.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, 11:00 am at the Schaffer Funeral  Home, Defiance, Ohio, with Pastor Bobby Branham, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Riverview Memory Gardens.
