John F. Hanenkratt, age 79 of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center. He was born on August 4, 1942 to the late John and Rosella (Arend) Hanenkratt in Paulding, Ohio. In 1997 he married Colleen (Rothenbuhler) Hanenkratt, who preceded him in death on January 9, 2019. John was a member of Defiance Church of the Nazarene. He worked for 46 years at Johns Manville until his retirement. He had a true passion for farming for over 40 years. He loved spending time with his family. John is survived by his children; Barry (Karen) Hanenkratt of Defiance, Shelley Easley of Paulding, Joseph (Ginger) Hanenkratt of Hobart, IN, Dawn (Rich) Johanns of Paulding, and Sean (Lisa) Hanenkratt of Hobart, IN. He also leaves his grandchildren; Eric (Janie Clemens) Hanenkratt, Brent (Marisa) Hanenkratt, Josh (Meagin) Hanenkratt, Hallieann (Spencer Gardner) Hale, and Shannon (Nathan Wilhelm) Hale, his great-grandchildren; Josh Jr., Waylon, Myah, Brently, Katlynn, Konner, Anna and Addison, and an additional eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife Colleen Hanenkratt.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Wiltsie Cemetery in Payne, Ohio, with Pastor Don Leonard officiating.
