John L. Curl, 73, of Defiance, passed away on May 3, 2013 at his residence.

He was born October 23, 1939 to Harold D. and Josephine M. (Long) Curl in Lima, Oh. On Februheary 2, 1963 he married Ruth "Susie" A. Williamson who survies in Defiance.

He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, He was employed by Zeller Corparation from 1962-1965. He was an electrician at GM Powertrain from 1965-1997 retiring August 30, 1997. He was a life member of VFW Post 3360 where he was Captain of the Honor Guard and Veterans Funeral Detail. He also spent two years as Captain of District I Honor Guard, Life member of AmVets

Post 1991, Defiance Legion Post 117, Defiance County Fish & Game and its Pistol Club. He was an Army Veteran from 1958-1964 serving in Germany. He was very dedicated to the Veterans Organizations and Veterans of Defiance County and the surrounding area, He loved spending time with family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His favoriate hobbies were fishing and camping.

John is survived by his wife, Ruth A. (Susie) Curl of Defiance, OH, Son, Rory L. ( Jackie ) Curl, of Bryan, OH, Daughter Renee A.(David) Bowling of Defiance, OH, daughter, Shelly A. Irwin and friend Ron Oliver of Serrento, Fl. 9 grandchilderen, 7 great grandchilderen, a brother, Danniel L. Curl of Defiance, OH, half - brother, David G. Williamson of Defiance, OH, his mother Josephine M. Williamson of Defiance,OH.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold D. Curl, step-father George Williamson, half-sister Kelly Jones, grandpartents Alva and Mabel Curl, grandfather Joseph Long, grandmother Alma Lhamon, and his grate grandson Devon Micheal Dietrick.

Visitation will be held Monday May 6, 2013 from 2-8pm at the Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, OH and from 10:00 am- 11:00am at St. Johns Lutheran Church Defiance on Tuesday. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday May 7,2013 11:00am at the St. Johns Lutheran Chruch Defiance, OH, with the Rev. Donald L. Luhring & Rev. Joshua Schmidt offciating.

Burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery where members of the Defiance VWF Post 3360 will accord Military honors.
