John D. (Angus) Black, 60, of Defiance, succumbed to persistent health issues on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at his residence. He was born on October 27, 1955 to Dr. Coit and Datie (Shindler) Black in Defiance.  John was at peace with the spirit of God preceding his death. John was well known for his stories and attentive ear for anyone in need of advice. He was a 1974 graduate of Defiance High School.  John was a life member of the Defiance Fish & Game Club, and he also served as past president of the Defiance Fellowship Club. John (Angus) enjoyed all things natural and spiritual, but none more than the youthful exuberance of  his grandchildren. John will be fondly remembered for his positive nature by many good friends. John is survived by his son, John W. (Erin) Black of Bowling Green, Ohio, daughter, Kristin (Brad) Leaders of Napoleon, Ohio, 6 Grandchildren; Brayden, Parker, Delaney,  Anderson, Jacob and Addison, brother, Coit (Carson) Black, Jr. of Defiance, sisters, Susie Bacon of Defiance, Sheila (David) Robinson of Boulder, Colorado, and Tami Garber of Boynton Beach, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Datie and Dr. Coit Black, and his loveable cat, Ziggy. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, November 13, 2015 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 10:30 am at Defiance Church of the Brethern, with Rev. Gene Yenser officiating.
