John David Bertram, 51, of Defiance, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014 at the CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance, Ohio.

He was born on May 13, 1963 to Gary and Bonnie (Rodak) Bertram in Wheeling, WV. If John wasn't spending time with his friends and family, he was often found mowing, even when the grass didn't need it.  John was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, loved the Defiance Bulldogs, and enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. He worked at General Motors and Olsons Cold Storage.

John is survived by his loving spouse Dawn Leis-Bertram, his children & grandchildren, parents; Gary and Bonnie Bertram of Defiance, sisters Rhonda (Don) Leininger of Archbold, Ohio, and Michelle Bertram-Almaraz of Defiance.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 pm on Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. A Memorial Service will follow at 6 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Vince Cantu officiating.
