Joanne M. Goerlitz, 66, of Defiance, passed away on Wednesday, December  2, 2015 at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. She was born on June 29, 1949 to Mario and Mary (Krajci) Piacentini in New York City, NY.  On May 20, 1972 she married John A. Goerlitz, at St. Lucy's Catholic Church in Bronx, NY. John currently resides in Defiance, OH. Joanne worked as a clerk for the Defiance County Commissioners Office and Paulding County Commissioners Office and was a purchasing agent for Putnam County in Mahopac, New York. She was a volunteer at Defiance Regional Medical Center, she played Mahjong and bingo, and enjoyed walking, biking, and shopping.  Joanne enjoyed cooking and was a fantastic chef. Joanne will be sadly missed by her mother, Mary Piacentini of Poland, Ohio, husband, John A. Goerlitz of Defiance, sons, John  D. (Kim) Goerlitz of Torrance, California, and  Adam A. Goerlitz of Columbus, Ohio, granddaughter, Alyssa Goerlitz, sister, Carol (Mike) DeStefano of San Antonio, Texas, and brother, Mario Piacentini of Poland, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her father, Mario Piacentini. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, December 7, 2015 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, Ohio.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at  11:00 am at the funeral home, with Deacon Jeff Mayer officiating.
