Obituary

Joanna J. Osborn, 84, of Defiance, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Defiance. She was born on October 30, 1931 to Joseph and Louise (Monsecour) DelGuidice in Chicago, Illinois. On August 23, 1953 she married Ray F. Osborn, who resides in Defiance. Joanna was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Defiance, and was an active member of the Altar & Rosary Society, Noodle Club, Food Pantry, and she was a Hospice volunteer. She graduated from Holy Rosary High School in Chicago in 1949. She graduated from nurses training in 1952 from St. Ann's School of Nursing in Chicago.  Joanna worked for local physicians and at the Defiance Hospital for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with her loving husband and her family. Joanna had a strong Catholic faith and she enjoyed sharing her faith with others and enjoyed being in the 13 Club. Joanna will be missed by her loving spouse of 62 years, husband Ray Osborn of Defiance, son R.J. (Lori Lynn) Osborn of Defiance, daughters, Lori (Dick) Kiser of Lakeside Marblehead, Ohio, Barbara (Bill) Jordan of Zolfo Springs, Florida, Patricia Wood of Grass Lake, Michigan,  and Constance (Scott) Schultz of Toledo, seven grandchildren; Kerri Greene, Jarek Osborn, Tyler Osborn, Addison Osborn, Leslie Mahan, Sarah Wood, and Zachary Schultz, four great-grandchildren; Olivia Greene, Malina Mahan, Jacob Yoder, Xavier Wood, and a sister, Victoria (Fran) Blake of Defiance. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louise and Joseph DelGuidice, and a grandson, Robert Wood. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm, and from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, with a Vigil Service at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Defiance, with Father Randy Giesige officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Food Pantry, or Community Health Professionals Hospice of Defiance.
