Joann J. Heil, 81, of Defiance, passed away on  Thursday, April 23, 2015 at CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance, Ohio. She was born on June 11, 1933 to Ralph and Marjory (Lamb) Schatz in Defiance, Ohio. Joann graduated from Defiance High School in 1951, and after graduation she became a Bank Teller at First Federal Bank, Defiance. On February 14, 1954 she married Robert M. Heil, who survives. Joann was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, and was a greeter. She enjoyed gardening and talking to people. Joann is survived by her loving spouse of 61 years, husband, Robert Heil  of Defiance, sons, Robert "Bob" (Joyce) Heil of Defiance, and Chuck (Sheri) Heil of Kawkawlin, Michigan, 5 Grandchildren, and 3 Great-Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Marjory Schatz. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Monday, April 27, 2015 at St. John Lutheran Church, Defiance. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm at the church, with Rev. Donald L. Luhring, and Rev. Joshua Schmidt, officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. John Lutheran Church, or CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center.
