Joan G. Baldwin, 91, of Defiance, OH, passed away on December 28, 2022, at Promedica Defiance Regional Hospital. She was born on January 13, 1931, to Louis and Leora (Essex) Hanna Sr. in Mongo, Indiana. On October 17, 1949, she married Kenneth L. Baldwin whom she now joins in their heavenly home where he has waited for her since September 30, 2019. Joan worked as a Nurse's Aide at the Defiance Health Care Nursing Center and previously for the Electrolite Factory.  She was a member of VFW Post #3360 Auxiliary and was the former Mayor and Police officer of Cecil, Ohio.

Joan and Kenneth enjoyed camping and traveling, visiting 48 different states.  Joan spent her free time quilting, sewing, crafting and writing poems.  She also enjoyed thrifting and canning.  Spending time with family and friends brought great joy to Joan. Joan will be greatly missed by her four children: Grace (Norman) McClure of Oakwood, OH, Ken (Susie) Baldwin, Jr. of Seattle, WA, Robert (Julie) Baldwin of Defiance, and John (Karen) Baldwin of Cecil, OH.  Also surviving are her eight grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and her sisters, Margaret Tyler, Karen Hanna, and Lynne Laney. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth L. Baldwin, Sr.; brothers, William, Roger, Eugene, Paul, Louis Jr., and Duane Hanna, and two sisters, Mary and Juanita Hanna. A celebration of life will be held in the Spring for the public.
