Jerry Wayne Funk, 64, of Sherwood, passed away on  Wednesday, July 17, 2013 in the CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center.

He was born September 7, 1948 to Alonso and Nellie (Moore) Funk in Williams County, OH.

Jerry honorably served in the US Army during the Viet Nam conflict where he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star Medal.  He was a retiree of GM Powertrain..

Jerry is survived by his son, Jeff (Jennifer) Funk of Defiance, daughters, Stacie (Shawn) Fedderke of Defiance, Kara (Norm) Hardy of Defiance, Jessica (Daniel) Budd of Hicksville, 7 grandchildren, many nieces & nephews, and a brother, Robert Funk of St. Louis, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Carol Heldt, brothers, Charles Funk, Richard McClough and one brother in infancy.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance.

Private services will be held Saturday, July 20, 2013, at the funeral home with Mick Sobieck officiating.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
