Jeffrey A. "Jeff"  Schaffer, 58, of Defiance, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at CHP Defiance Area Inpatient Hospice Center in Defiance, Ohio. He was born on November 5, 1957 to Wayne and Sally (Gardner) Schaffer in Defiance. Jeff was a 1976 graduate of Defiance High School. On June 2, 1979  he married Sarah (Karnes)  Schaffer, his high school sweetheart, who preceded him in death on March 15, 2012. They were married for 32 years, and are now reunited after 3 1/2 years. Jeff was a member of  St. John United Church of Christ in Defiance. He worked at General Motors for 25 years, retiring in 2002. Jeff was a handyman, and if he wasn't spending time with his grandchildren, he was in the barn tinkering on his motorcycles. He was a skilled wood worker and craftsman. Jeff will be greatly missed by his family; parents Wayne and Sally Schaffer, son Tony (Melanie) Schaffer, and grandsons, Grady and Camden Schaffer, all of Defiance, sister Cindy (Richard) Shaffer of Defiance, brothers Tim (Becky) Schaffer of Defiance, and Steve Schaffer of Mooresville, North Carolina, In-laws; Phillip (Deena) Karnes of Defiance, Steve (Mary Ann) Karnes of Mission Viejo, California, and John (Corrine) Karnes of Seattle, Washington,  and many nieces and nephews. Furthermore, Jeff was blessed to find companionship and comfort in the friendship of Becky Rhodes of Ney, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at St. John United Church of Christ in Defiance. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 4, 2015 at the church, with Rev. James Brehler officiating. Memorials are suggested to CHP Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center.
