Obituary

Jeannett A. Manley Jeannett A. Manley, 97, of Defiance, passed away Thursday, July 6th, 2017 in her home. She was born in Defiance, Ohio on March 20, 1920, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Frances (Gallenstien) Stitsel. She was a lifetime member of St. John Catholic Church and a graduate of St. John Commercial. She was the widow of Richard C. Manley Sr. Jeannett had worked as a cleaning lady for Weaner & Associates Law Firm and the State Bank. Her and her husband had also owned and operated Manley Laundry Services for 20 years. She was a Red Cross volunteer, delivered meals on wheels and assisted with the church sacristy. She was a very good sewer and also loved to crochet. Surviving are daughters: Sandie (Charles) Cook of Redding, CA, Betty Boling of Defiance, Janet Lirot of Defiance, Joyce 'Penny' (Henry) Zeck. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren. Jeannett was preceded in death by her husband Richard C. Manley Sr., Sons: Richard C. Manley Jr., Robert A. Manley, James L. Manley, sisters: Mary Streicher and Dorothy Slavin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John Catholic Church at 10 00 a.m. on Monday, July 10th, with Father Eric Mueller officiating. Visitation is Sunday 4-8 p.m. at the Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens. Suggested memorials are to St. John Catholic Church.
