Jean Kline, age 98, of Defiance, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 30, 2026 at Steel Health & Rehabilitation in Defiance, Ohio.

She was born on January 7, 1928 to the late O.A. and Florence (Rath) Speiser in Defiance County, Ohio. On April 16, 1946 she married Marion F. Kline, who preceded her in death on November 12, 2004.

Jean was a faithful member of Evansport United Methodist Church. She worked for over 40 years as a cashier at Chief Supermarket until her retirement. She enjoyed being outdoors and doing yard work, mowing her lawn, camping, and fishing. She loved bowling in a league on a Chief Supermarket team for several years. Jean had a very strong work ethic and was very independent and sell efficient.

Jean is survived by her loving sons, Larry (Michelle) Kline of Bradenton, FL and Jerry Kline of Cecil, OH, seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marion Kline, and brother, Harold Speiser.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2026 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance. Jean will be laid to rest in Evansport Cemetery, with Celebrant Deb Miller officiating.
